Neighbours star Kylie Minogue discusses possible return for Charlene

Neighbours star Kylie Minogue isn't ruling out taking part in the revival of the show on Amazon Freevee.

The Aussie pop icon reunited with former co-star Jason Donovan last year for what was then thought to be the final episode of Neighbours, reprising the role of Charlene Robinson for the first time in decades.

Kylie has since admitted she was "miffed" about Neighbours being brought back so quickly, but it seems she's still not ruling out taking part in the revival.

"Ah, well, I didn't think she would before and she did," she told Amanda Holden on the Heart Breakfast Show. "So, I'm going to remain open to that."

The 'Spinning Around' singer also spoke more about her mixed emotions over the Neighbours revival, as she explained her initial frustration has turned into excitement for the cast and crew.

"Good for them," she said. "It took us, I think, when the news came out that it was being picked up, there was a bit of a collective 'eh?'

"But, you know, for the cast and the crew, to pick it up, it'll be interesting to see where they go with it."

When she originally filmed her scenes for the 2022 Neighbours finale, Kylie revealed that Jason reached out to her personally to see if she'd consider reuniting with him.

"Jason and I are connected anyway, but he wrote me a beautiful email, so eloquent and heartfelt about this being a moment for us to acknowledge and say thanks to the fans," she said.

Kylie originally starred in Neighbours between 1986 and 1988, with Charlene going on to become of the most popular characters in the history of the show.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
