PSA: Naomi Osaka Is Expecting a BB With Her Boyfriend Cordae đ„șâ€ïž
Naomi Osaka is one of the best athlete in the world, but despite the huge spotlight on her that comes with being a tennis pro, sheâs pretty private about her personal life. However! We do know a bit about her boyfriend Cordae and their sweet relationship, because they simply canât help but be cute all over social. So if youâre in the mood for a deep dive, youâve arrived at the right spot. And first of allâŠ
Nope, Those Breakup Rumors Arenât True
There was a ton of weird, misplaced speculation in early August 2022 that Naomi and Cordae (who was previously part of the hip-hop collective YBN) had split up, but not so much. TMZ says the pair are actually doing âbetter than ever,â are âhappily in love,â and have been âspending even more time together recently,â which make the breakup rumors kinda weird.
Oh, and they seemingly responded to the speculation with this:

In Fact, Theyâre Actually Pregnant!!!
Yes, you read that right, and yes, I am legit crying right about now, lol. The tennis pro shared the exciting news via an Instagram carousel featuring a photo of an ultrasound along with a message in both English and Japanese. âCanât wait to get back on the court but hereâs a little life update for 2023,â the caption read.
In the note, Naomi delves deeper into how she generally feels about this time in her life and opens up about tennis and her baby. âThe past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that itâs the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun. These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game Iâve dedicated my life to,â she wrote.
âI know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing Iâm looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, âThatâs my mom,â haha,â she continued elsewhere in the sweet reflection. I truly should not be this emotional on a Wednesday afternoon, but here we are!
Naomiâs Boyfriend Is a Grammy Nominee
In other words, theyâre both at the top of their game. Naomi is also super supportive of Cordae, and during the release of his second album, From a Birds Eye View, she wrote on Insta, âMakes you feel like some people are born to do certain things, @cordae youâre a star and a light, quite literally brighten up every room you walk in (or maybe itâs your hair lol). Congratulations on your 2nd album, proud of you.â Sâcute!
Cordae and Naomi Intentionally Keep Things Low-Key
Cordae opened up about their relationshipâand the decision to keep things (mostly) privateâto GQ, saying, âWe were dating for almost a year before people knew about us. So we kind of move very reclusively. We donât really post intimate moments, because I feel as though theyâre sacred. A relationship is really a sacred thing. Once you let outside influences get into it, it becomes less sacred.â
Meanwhile, Naomi said Cordae was super supportive during the 2020 U.S. Open, explaining, âDuring the whole New York thing and with everything that was going on, I started to feel really depressed. Sometimes I would call Cordae, and maybe in some of the calls I would cry. I donât remember. And he flew out, even though he was really busy. I really appreciated that. Iâm not sure if Iâve told him that. I feel like he actually really helped me win, just, like, keeping up the motivation.â
He Recently Launched a Record Label
Itâs called Hi Level, and Cordae started it in 2021 after leaving YBN. âI started Hi Level to open the door for other creatives,â he said during an interview with the Recording Academy. âHi Level is a record label, but itâs also a way of lifeâa mantra, if you would. I always say that everything I do, I must do it at the highest level that Iâm capable of. So when I see Hi Level, itâs sort of a reminder of that and what it represents. Allowing creativesâand even non-creatives, just anybody from any walk of lifeâallowing them to have that mentality or reminding them to have that mentality.â
Music Is Like Therapy to Him
Cordae also told the Recording Academy that writing songs is âtherapy for me,â especially when it comes to difficult topics like the loss of his grandmother and close friend.
âWriting songs is therapy for me, so itâs never really that hard writing it. Recording can get a little tough, but actually listening to itâthat can be therapeutic too, but when I relisten to, like, the end of âWestlake High,â I can get a little emotional. âMommaâs Hood,â I get a little emotional.â
Heâs Written Some Lyrics About Naomi
Take âDream in Color,â for example, which includes lyrics like, âMy girl would forfeit a tennis match to meet my grandmama / Man, she truly a keeper.â
And nope, Naomi doesnât mind the refs. âIt doesnât cross my mind that often because he always asks permission,â she told Tennis.com. âBut yeah, I mean, I feel like thatâs the most amazing part about it. He actually writes his lyrics. He has to take the time to actually experience the things that he does. Itâs a really fascinating process.â

His First Date With Naomi Was at a Clippers Game
And he made a great first impression. âI just remember seeing that there were so many people who wanted to take a picture with him,â she told GQ. âAnd I just thought it was really cool how friendly and welcoming he was with everyone.â
Cordae also didnât know Naomi played tennis at the time, admitting, âItâs not my sport. If you asked me about tennis, before being immersed in it because of Naomi, I could only give you Venus and Serena Williams, you know? Because theyâre just a part of the culture.â
Theyâre Public About Their Love on Insta
Yeah, they keep things pretty private in general, but we do get some gems on Naomiâs social media.
And Theyâve Made Some Epic Red Carpet Appearances
This is mostly an excuse for me to drop this amazing Met Gala moment:
Naomi Tours With Him
Although she doesnât love it. As she put it, âI realize that I much prefer the tennis tour. I donât likeâŠI donât like his tour at all. Not, like, specifically his tourâŠbut, like, artist tour. Itâs really tough. They [artists] literally move every night and I donât knowâŠlike, I feel like in the tennis tour, you at least get a coupleâŠa week to settle down, explore the city, but they literally only have a couple hours to do that, if even so.â
Anyway, in love with their love, thatâs all!
