If you're looking for a last-minute New England beach escape before fall rolls in, a new hotel is making its way to Nantucket's hospitality scene, opening its doors on Aug. 28. And make sure to bring the family, too.

Sitting on North Beach Street steps away from downtown Nantucket and a short walk to Jetties Beach, the reimagined Beachside Hotel is making its debut as a family-friendly resort with plenty of activities and amenities to keep its guests — regardless of their age — entertained.

"We wanted a place where parents and kids would enjoy the property equally. Too often, family resorts are either too geared toward the kids or there is little to no offering for the kids," Jason Brown and Brad Guidi, co-founders of Blue Flag Capital, the Boston-based company behind other properties such as Faraway Hotels, said in a statement to Travel + Leisure. "We wanted to strike a perfect balance where the kids could explore the 3.5-acre resort by themselves safely, and the parents could enjoy a relaxing cocktail by the pool."

As a result, Beachside is the ultimate summer playground with a brand new swimming pool, a gated kid's pool, a gym, complimentary bikes, large family-friendly suites and guest rooms with balconies, a game room, and a spacious courtyard. A kid's club is also in the works for 2025.

Complementing the on-site amenities is all-day programming with activities that include movie nights and communal firepits for evening gatherings (and s'mores!).

While the hotel was designed with the idea of "endless summer," Brown and Guidi had a specific period in mind when it came to the decor. Beachside was originally built in the 1960s when Nantucket was a creative hub for artists and craftspeople. So, the property channels that '60s and '70s mid-century aesthetic and artistic heritage without feeling dated or stuck in the past.

"We didn't want it to be just another mid-century style hotel. There is definitely a sophisticated bent on all the selection — beautiful terracotta and cream colors dominate, balanced with rattans, leathers, and deep greens and golds," Brown and Guidi explained, highlighting the hand-cut marble mosaic floors and sky blue tiles in the bathrooms and custom light fixtures. Guests will also enjoy DS & Durga bath products and Italian-made Bellino bed linens.

But at the heart of the property is the Swim Club, the hotel's signature dining concept, which offers plenty of outdoor seating adjacent to the pool. "It will be serving lunch and dinner, and on the weekends, we will have a food truck program that will bring in other local restaurants to serve food during outdoor movie nights on the lawn," they added.

Those 21 years and over can also enjoy a lunchtime drink or post-dinner cocktail at the chic lobby bar.

Nightly rates at Beachside Hotel start from $599 during the peak season, and you can now book your stay at thebeachside.com.
