Nadine Lustre's father opens up on son and depression

Ulysses Lustre says the tragedy of his son Isaiah's death will not go unnoticed

18 Oct - Ulysses Lustre, father of actress Nadine Lustre, recently broke his silence about the suicide of his 16-year-old son, Isaiah.

As reported on Philnews, on 14 October, he posted an image of the semicolon that punctuates mental health awareness and calls for awareness over the issue of depression.

He wrote, "The loss of a father or a mother is painful, the loss of a son is unbearable. The demons of depression is devouring our youth. I call out to all sons and daughters to please stop hurting yourselves. Your depression is incomparable to us parents when you do. Life is beautiful. Please bear that in mind."

"Happy Birthday [Isaiah]. We love you so much," he added.

He also shared his actress daughter's post about Isaiah's blog posts, and wrote, "You got me there Ice, so much lessons learned. Even I am not free from depression, through your writings I'm now bolder to face it head on. I am proud of you, Ice. This tragedy will not end unnoticed. A battle cry for fighting depression will be shouted. And there will be awareness."
