Nabil Ahmad denies being the highest paid host

11 Oct – Comedian and TV personality Nabil Ahmad has denied the notion that he is the highest paid host in Malaysia.

The "Raja Lawak" alumnus responded to questions about his actual fee after a recent TikTok video stated that he is paid RM40,000 as a host, surpassing the likes of other popular TV presenters like Datuk AC Mizal, Awal Ashaari, Fara Fauzana, and even Aznil Nawawi himself, the latter who is a respected senior in the business.

"If [the TikTok user] said that that's my value, of course I am happy, and I don't mean the money, just the standard. But of course, I have never been paid that much money," he said to Harian Metro.

Nabil said that he would never set on that much amount for a gig, though admitted that being a host of a long show like "Gegar Vaganza" enables him to make a big buck.

"When you are the host, you want the client to be satisfied with the way you work and make it worth the value. If I ask for a high fee for a corporate event, people will have high expectations as well. But if you ask for an affordable fee and people are happy with your work, for me, that's more valuable than anything," he added.

Nabil added that he'd rather ask for a reasonable pay and create a long-term relationship with his clients than to charge them an exorbitant fee.
