The top themes that will define the 2024 fashion agenda
Despite fashion executives observing the industry with a state of concern and "uncertainty" due to geopolitical instability and weakened economies, leaders remain optimistic there is still a path for growth in 2024. Non-luxury sales are forecasted to grow between 2-4% due to "declining consumer sentiment" and inflation, according to Business of Fashion and McKinsey's State of Fashion 2024 report. Luxury sales also remain limited, expected to increase between 3-5% on a global stage. Despite the low forecasted numbers, key industry themes executives are paying attention to include: updating influencer marketing strategies, continuing to experiment with artificial intelligence (AI), investing in sustainable practices, bolstering strategic partnerships, supply chain transparency and blurring the lines between functionality and style as consumers embrace technical outdoor wear. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}
