Mr Yakiniku reopens at Bedok kopitiam with signature solo sets & donburi lunch bowls

Mr Yakiniku has found a new home at New Gen Coffee House located in Bedok along Upper Changi Road. It officially opened to the public on 18 May 2023.

If you’ve never heard of them, they were previously located at the Ubi Industrial Estate for over a year before making the move. Although the old location wasn’t the best for human footfall, they had a substantial number of regulars who would even drive down all the way from Jurong, just to patronise them.

Their iconic IG-worthy Japanese Torii gate has been transferred to their new location as well; get your cameras ready!

Similar to their defunct Ubi outlet, they offer individual sets to customers who are dining alone. Meat lovers can choose the Beef Set Menu (S$11.80 for 100g, S$17.80 for 200g) (comes with Karubi short plate and Harami) or Pork & Chicken Set Menu (S$14.80 for 150g, S$21.80 for 250g) (comes with pork jowl, pork belly and chicken thigh).

Do you have friends who are vegan and you feel bad that they can’t enjoy the yakiniku experience along with you? Now they can, with the Plant Based Set Menu (S$14.80 for 150g, S$21.80 for 250g) which comes with Next Karubi (plant-based meat), mushroom and Hokkaido flower squid (made from konjac).

Their yakiniku sets come with homemade condiments that go well with whichever meat you’re having. If you fancy something sweet and savoury, their iconic Mr Yakiniku Sauce is a combination of yakiniku sauce and pineapple puree (made from scratch). There’s also Togarashi Salt (chilli, sea salt and fried garlic), Ponzu (ideal for seafood) and Citrus Salt (dehydrated lemon blended with salt).

If you’re not a fan of grilled meats, why not settle for something heartwarming like the Yasai Collagen Nabe (S$12.80)? It has enoki mushrooms, cabbage, shitake mushrooms, tofu and naruto fish cake doused in pork bone collagen broth.

Mr Yakiniku understands that during lunchtime, customers tend to be pressed for time and may not have the luxury of enjoying a yakiniku experience.

Thus, they’ve launched a donburi rice bowl menu (only for lunch) where you can enjoy convenient options like Aburi Smoked Duck Don (S$7.80), Mentaiko Chicken Don (S$8.80) and Unagi Katsu Don (S$12.80).

Head down to New Gen Coffee House now for your dose of grilled meats and a good time, even if it means getting your clothes a little smokey (trust me, it’s worth it).
