From Cosmopolitan

Season one of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina feels like a lifetime ago. Now Sabrina is witchier than ever (unless her new hairstyle is supposed to mean something else?), Aunt Hilda’s boyf is definitely maybe up to no good, and Principal Hawthorne is dead, thanks to Madam Satan, who also had him for dinner.

In December 2017, Netflix ordered the series from Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as a two-season deal, which means you will one hundred percent see Sabrina again, along with her newly acquired powers, no matter how tainted they are. Here’s what we know about season two so far:

1. Production began right after season one. As soon as season one wrapped in March 2018, the cast and crew returned to work almost immediately. Yes, this means a special group of people already knows what happens next season. Richard Coyle (Father Blackwood), if you ever want to spill, I’m all ears.

2. Season one will have nine episodes. Per Deadline, Netflix’s original order called for 20 episodes. You don’t need magical powers to do the math. With 10 in the bank for season one, plus the Christmas special, season two will follow up with nine more episodes. Here are the titles of each, in case you want to do some sleuthing:

  • “The Epiphany”

  • “The Passion of Sabrina Spellman”

  • “Lupercalia”

  • “Doctor Cerberus’s House of Horror”

  • “Blackwood”

  • “The Missionaries”

  • “The Miracles of Sabrina Spellman”

  • “The Mandrake”

  • “The Mephisto Waltz”

3. As expected, Sabrina will go through some big changes. As Kiernan Shipka told Bloody Disgusting in October 2018, “Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They are very different from each other.”

4. But she's still not totally on the Dark Lord's side.

Sabrina might have pledged her allegiance to the Dark Lord, but that doesn't mean she'll do whatever he wants. Kiernan made it clear that Sabrina is NOT down with devil.

"She signed the Book of the Beast because she literally had to, and now she’s using it to her advantage," Kiernan told EW. "But I don’t think that her agenda is ever going to include submitting to the Dark Lord. That’s not in her DNA. Sabrina’s not evil."

5. Season two will pick up right from the events of the season one finale; i.e., pay close attention to everything that happens in that last hour. Again, from Shipka’s Bloody Disgusting interview: “I would just say that, without giving too much away, because it would be a bit of a spoiler, the way that Sabrina’s life takes certain turns and certain decisions she makes inform the second season. The finale of the first season sets up a lot. It goes in a different direction. We see more different characters. It deals with a different side of things.”

6a. Salem might get his own episode. Speaking to IndieWire in October 2018, RAS acknowledged Salem’s backstory, which has been so prominent in the comic books. (One issue, “That Damn Cat,” is entirely devoted to his pre–feline days, which included being at the Salem witch trials of 1692.) “We’ve definitely talked about doing a Salem-centric episode where we learn more about his life,” RAS said.

6b. And he might talk. In the same IndieWire interview, RAS said Salem didn’t have any dialogue “partly to project the horror tone” on season one. “That isn’t to say that Salem won’t talk in the future.” My ears are ready.

7. A Riverdale crossover might be coming.

The first season of CAOS gave us a sprinkling of Riverdale Easter eggs, and apparently there are going to be even more in part two. When RAS spoke with The Wrap back in December, he revealed that he’s planning another surprise.

“There’s one thing I’m trying to figure out that’s a nice Easter egg that I’m trying to get permission to do-but it’s too soon to talk about yet,” he said.

And if the Easter eggs just aren’t enough for you, don’t give up hope! The showrunner also said that once season two of CAOS is done, they’re going to start planning a legit crossover episode.

“I think once [season two] is behind us, I think we’ll be able to really investigate and have the conversations about this,” he told The Wrap. “That’s my hope at least.”

8. There was some legal trouble. The Satanic Temple filed a $50 million copyright suit against Netflix on November 8, according to Variety.

As previously reported by The Wrap, Satanic Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves believes the show is “appropriating” the organization’s design of the monument to Baphomet. The design in question is in the form of a monument at Sabrina’s witch school, the Academy of Unseen Arts.

In a statement sent to The Wrap, Greaves confirmed that a letter had been sent to Netflix “informing them of the copyright violation, asking them to take our imagery out of the show.”

9. Season two will welcome some new faces. Per Deadline, actor Alexis Denisof (Wesley from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) will play Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend Adam Masters, who returns to Greendale after being overseas with Physicians Without Frontiers (this is right up there with Riverdale’s “American Excess” and the “Five Seasons”). The twist? Adam has no clue his boo’s body is being occupied by Madam Satan now.

Jedidiah Goodacre (whose TV credits include The Originals and episodes of Supernatural and The 100) will play a warlock named Dorian Gray, who owns a nightclub called Dorian Gray’s Room. Dorian is described as “an enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age and is very good at keeping secrets,” including his own involving a cursed portrait. Sound familiar?

10. The new season will drop April 5. Netflix finally released the teaser trailer for season two and revealed that you should get ready to cue up your Netflix and binge on the first Friday in April.

11. Netflix has renewed the show for two more seasons. In December 2018, the streaming giant ordered 16 more episodes to be divided over seasons three and four.

Production will begin later this year. Here’s Salem recapping this exciting announcement.

12. There will be a love “square” among Sabrina, Nick, Harvey, and...someone else?

Sabrina is all about the dark side this season, and that includes her love life. She can’t help but fall for the smokin’ hot warlock (who can blame her?), and according to Kiernan, it just makes sense.

“Nick champions Sabrina in a way Harvey couldn’t because [Harvey’s] not a warlock and he doesn’t understand witchcraft,” she told EW. “In this season of Sabrina’s life, it would not work with Harvey. The love for Harvey will always be there, and who knows when she will decide to revisit that, but Nick makes sense for Sabrina this season.”

Sorry to all the Sabrina-Harvey shippers, but Ross Lynch agrees. Now that Sabrina is attending the Witch Academy, she doesn’t have much time for Harvey and the rest of the Baxter High mortals.

“In this case, distance doesn’t make the heart grow fonder,” Ross told Cosmo. Ouch. Buttt Harvey might not be too heartbroken. When we asked him about the Sabrina/Nick/Harvey love triangle, he responded, “I think it’s a love square, personally.” Does that mean Harvey’s getting a new GF?! Only time will tell....

13. Like Riverdale, CAOS could be getting the musical treatment.

Love them or hate them, Riverdale’s musical episodes have been nothing short of iconic. So maybe, just maybe, we could see the same happen in CAOS. And there’s one character who’s totally on board with the idea.

“If we’re not filming, someone usually has a guitar and we’re singing and playing on-set all day,” Ross told Cosmo. “It’s so fun....I do think this cast could pull it off. I really do.”

Here’s to hoping!

14. The official trailer has been released...and things are about to get dark.
