Moschino has named Adrian Appiolaza as its new creative director.

The 51-year-old has quite the industry pedigree. After studying at Central Saint Martins, he worked with many design greats — Alexander McQueen, Phoebe Philo, Marc Jacobs — and most recently with J.W. Anderson at Loewe, where he served as the Design Director of Women's Ready-to-Wear for the last 10 years.

Appiolaza said in a statement that he's "always admired Franco Moschino's sharp wit and irony" and has collected original Moschino pieces throughout his career, citing the designer as someone "who changed the history of fashion."

Appiolaza will debut his first collection at Moschino this February during Milan Fashion Week. The show will be held at the Museo della Permanente, a venue that hosted a 1993 exhibition ("Moschino - X anni di Kaos! 1983-1993") celebrating the first 10 years of the luxury brand.

"We are happy and honored to welcome Adrian to the Aeffe family," said Chairman of Aeffe S.p.A. Massimo Ferretti in a press statement. "With his arrival at Moschino, Adrian brings with him a unique wealth of experience, creativity and knowledge of the history of fashion that will be instrumental to write a wonderful new chapter in the adventure of the brand founded by Franco Moschino."

"I thank Massimo Ferretti for giving me the opportunity to test myself with this new challenge and for wanting to share this new stage in the Maison's journey with me," said Appiolaza via a press release. "My task will be to reopen that window into the world that Franco Moschino opened for all of us: and there could be no greater honor."

The news comes nearly three months after the tragic passing of previously appointed Creative Director of the brand, David Renne — a former womenswear designer at Gucci who entered the role after Jeremy Scott's shocking exit in March 2023.
