The 'accessible luxury' British jewellery brand Monica Vinader first entered the Singapore market in 2015, and since then, amassed new and loyal fans in the region. If your memory is as fuzzy as mine, we did a little digging and found out that the first counter store was inside the ION Orchard shopping mall on Orchard Road.
Since then, it's branched out to a standalone boutique at #B1-09 that offers all the Monica Vinader's friendship, gemstone and diamond collections as well as the complimentary, same-day engraving service.

Vinader was born in San Sebastian, Spain and counts herself an artist, adventurer and designer. She studied Fine Arts in London and after graduating, took up the posting of a jewellery designer.
After travelling and procuring gems for her work, she founded her namesake retail brand in 2002 with her husband after she created a jewellery collection while working in South America. At first, she was focused on creating bespoke collections for private clients, but soon discovered a knack to appeal to the broader audience.
Today, her beloved creations have been worn by personalities and celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Emma Watson and HRH the Duchess of Cambridge.

What I liked about Monica Vinader
The price point and designs are both equally important and attractive to me. When I'm looking for a piece of versatile, everyday jewellery, it's not difficult to gravitate towards some of the collections I've been keeping my sight on. There are some times when I'm looking for a simple, minimalistic look so I'll opt for their clean single-strand bracelets and stud earrings featuring gemstones.
But when I'm going out with my friends, I like to pile on a bit more of a chunky piece, like the Nura collection, as it's bold and has quite a snazzy character.

Vinader found a sweet spot for 'accessible luxury' back when most brands were pricing their products in the few thousand range. This was also partly because these brands were concentrating on 10- or 14-karat gold and pavé diamonds. Monica Vinader jewellery uses sterling silver material which is coated with 18-karat gold vermeil and encased with semi-precious stones.
Vinader's design team in Norfolk comes up with stellar drafts which are then shared with skilled gem cutters in Jaipur to shape the gems, followed by craftsmen in Thailand for the final product.
In April 2020, all Monica Vinader jewellery uses 100 per cent recycled silver, an attempt to make immediate reductions in CO2 production, with all deliveries and returns now carbon-neutral.
In an interview with Business of Fashion, Vinader said, “We are the ultimate accessible luxury brand. It’s the constant driver of everything we do. We’ve helped people understand what a quality product vermeil can be and that’s what we want to focus on.”
