Albie and Dottie forever! The couple, portrayed by superstar country singer Trace Adkins and Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon, have captured the attention of viewers on Monarch.

More than 10 million viewers tuned in for the premiere, making it the number 1 scripted debut of 2022. Only four episodes in, the Fox drama has already been packed with unforgettable twists, exposed secrets, memorable musical performances, and show-stopping cameos by country music superstars like Martina McBride, Shania Twain, and Tanya Tucker.

The show follows the Roman family, aka the "first family of country music." Albie Roman (Trace Adkins) and his wife Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) have built a musical dynasty, but when their daughter Nicky attempts to protect their reign in country music while ensuring her own stardom alongside her brother Luke and sister Gigi, she threatens to expose the true origins of their fame.

The official Monarch Instagram account shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Susan and Trace with the caption, "These two. 😍 Catch more Albie and Dottie moments Tuesday 9/8c on @foxtv, and the next day @hulu. #Monarch"

  • "I need more susan sarandon scenes, we really miss her , dear dottie don't spare your soul from us🥺❤️🩹"

  • "Just started watching hooked!!!! What a great show and my girl @martinamcbride to boot!!!! 😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏"

  • "Y'all look great together"

  • "Great show from the get go"

Fans of the show were shocked to find out that Dottie died at the end of the first episode (she intentionally overdosed on pills after learning of a terminal cancer diagnosis). But viewers were relieved to discover that that wasn't the end for Susan Sarandon's character. Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for FOX, told Variety, "It was always designed that the matriarch of the family was going to die at the end of the pilot. But it was also always designed that the matriarch would then come back in several of the episodes throughout the first season in flashback." Thorn confirmed that Sarandon will appear in about half of the season 1 episodes.

This show has us on the edge of our seats! Monarch airs on Tuesday nights on Fox. Miss an episode? Catch up on Hulu.
