‘Molly’s Game’ Adds Brian d’Arcy James; Andrew J. West Cast In ‘Antiquities’

Brian d’Arcy James has been cast in the Aaron Sorkin directorial debut pic Molly’s Game, starring Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba. Sorkin penned the film adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir, which is about a world class skier on the verge of making the Olympic team when an injury ended her career. In an effort to find out what to do with her life she starts working as an assistant for a man who runs underground poker games for celebrities. This was one of the big titles at Cannes last May where STX nabbed the rights; eOne and The Mark Gordon Company are financing, and Gordon is producing with Amy Pascal via her Pascal Pictures banner. James is currently shooting the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, directed by Tom McCarthy. He also played Matt Carroll in McCarthy’s Oscar winning film Spotlight. His upcoming projects include Felt, Rebel In The Rye, and Trouble. James is repped by Thruline and Gersh.

The Walking Dead‘s Andrew J. West is set as the lead in the indie comedy Antiquities, directed by Daniel Campbell from a script he co-wrote with Graham Gordy. The pic is about Walt who, after his father’s unexpected death, moves to his dad’s hometown in order to learn more about who his father was. He accepts a job in a local antique mall where he learns more about himself than he ever thought possible. Antiquities marks the first film under indie production company Mortuus Pater Pictures, LLC. Kathryn Francis Tucker and Jayme Lemons are producing the pic. West’s recent credits include the Netflix film Rebirth and Ned Crowley’s Middle Man. He is repped by The Group Management and CAA.
