Moira dela Torre records Mulan theme "Reflection"
12 Mar – Moira dela Torre has been selected to record the local version of the "Mulan" theme song, "Reflection".
As reported on ABS-CBN, the singer who spoke to the media about the project, admitted that she felt excited and nervous, especially since the original was performed by the Pinoy musical star herself, Lea Salonga.
"It's very cool because this happened. It's crazy. I wouldn't have believed that I would get to work with Disney for something as big as this. If you asked me this last year, I still wouldn't believe it. It's such a great opportunity, and I'm very grateful for it," she said.
dela Torre also said that it felt like a full circle as "Reflection" was the first song she had to learn in full.
"I had to sing it for a special number for our church's second anniversary. It was basically what opened the door for me to start loving music," she said.
Asked if she is worried that people will compare her version with Salonga or even the soundtrack performed by Christina Aguilera, the singer stated that she will just try to be true to herself.
"They made it to that stage because they were true to themselves and I feel very empowered by that," she said.
