Miss Colombia angers Filipinos and Mexicans

Andrea Tovar's alleged disrespectful comment about the treats given to her by a hotel angered many

16 Jan - Colombia's bet for Miss Universe, Andrea Tovar, sparked anger among the Filipino and Mexican netizens for allegedly belittling a complimentary gift she received from her hotel in the Philippines.

As reported on Manila Bulletin, Tovar recently posted a video as part of her Instagram story, in which she can be heard complaining about some treats given by the hotel she is staying in throughout the course of the Miss Universe pageant.

Facebook page Pageanthology 101 later shared the said video and added the translated version of her words, in which she can be heard saying, "... and little translucent and hallucinogen oranges. Look at that, it's all orange. And what do you think my dears, I'm speaking like a Mexican ... What are those fattening filths? Look at this."

Netizens, especially from the Philippines and Mexico, expressed anger for her words, and bashed her for being disrespectful towards her host country, and the Mexican accent.

While Tovar has reportedly apologised about the incident, it was clear that the issue was in contrast to what the Colombiana said previously upon arrival in the Philippines.

"I love the Philippines," she was quoted saying. "It's a big opportunity to be here in this amazing country. I am so excited for the pageant! And I want to know your culture, including your food."
