Milla Jovovich brings the heat to Resident Evil: The Final Chapter trailer

The Screen Gems panel at New York Comic-Con went from one badass lady to another on Friday. First, Kate Beckinsale battled both vampires and Lycans in the latest sneak peek at Underworld: Blood Wars, and now Milla Jovovich has returned as her gunslinger, Alice, in a new trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

The film is both an ending and an origin story for Alice, as director Paul W.S. Anderson teased to EW in a previous interview. "Normally when you try and wrap things up, it’s the end of something," he said, adding it's “almost like an origin story at the same time because we’re finally revealing the truth as to who the Alice character is — who she is, where she came from, what her true back story is."

As we see in the footage, there are more T-virus monstrosities, more Umbrella Corporation, and more action-packed sequences. Picking up directly after the events of Resident Evil: Retribution, The Final Chapter sees Alice heading to The Hive in Raccoon City, where this post-apocalypse began. It's there the Umbrella Corporation is readying for a final strike against the remaining survivors.

The film also features Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, Rola, Lee Joon-Gi, William Levy, and Iain Glen. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will hit theaters on Jan. 27.
