Miley Cyrus reveals her natural wavy hair with skunk-effect statement roots
Miley Cyrus just reminded us her hair has a natural wave, wearing the tousled texture to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and switching it up from the punky straight styles she's come to be known for in recent years. The fluffy waves and centre part really open up her face and I can't get over how different she looks.
She was on the show to promote her New Years Eve TV special, which will be co-hosted by her beyond iconic godmother Dolly Parton, and though her texture may appear to be natural, her colour is a platinum peroxide blonde Dolly herself would be proud of.
Miley isn't known for waves or curls, but if you go back to childhood videos or even the early Disney days, you can see that her hair has some gentle natural texture to it.
(I actually can't stop watching that clip it's too cute.)
And wavy looks like this 2019 moment have me questioning just how much texture can be coaxed out of Miley's tresses, if dried encouragingly and with the right products:
As for the colour, the chunky black and white skunk-like stripe of root, it's clear to see Miley's statement root isn't pure re-growth like Kim Kardashian's recent black and blonde skunk-effect bun. That's certainly not Miley's natural chestnut brown coming through.
Just like her punky 00s two-tone black under layer, it seems the singer has actually dyed her roots black to achieve that stark contrast. Pretty smart, if you ask me. She's dialled down the emo super-straight texture but picked up the edgy slack with the new black root.
Such a flattering spin on the sometimes harsh aesthetic of punk.
