Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi safe from Weinstein harm

20 Oct - As two of the biggest female Asian stars who work in Hollywood, Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi shared that they are lucky to not have been harassed by the disgraced film mogul, Harvey Weinstein.

As reported on Mingpao, Michelle, who spoke about the issue of Weinstein's sexual harassment and abuse, shared that she knew that he was a bully and a despicable man, but that she was not exposed to the dark side of him through the many years they worked together.

"Otherwise, he would have experienced the full effect of years of martial arts training," she added.

On the other hand, her "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" co-star Zhang Ziyi shared that the film mogul has made her repeated offers to work in his movies, including the sequel to the martial arts film, and even promised to give her a chance at an Oscar nomination.

However, the actress declined him each time.

"The contracts that he provided are based on his preference and I can't accept that. While it's every actor's dream to win an Oscar, I don't think it can be used as a bargaining chip," she said.
