Mexico's Manolo Caro making Netflix comedy

Digital film and TV network Netflix has ordered a dark comedy series from Mexican director Manolo Caro, with distribution set across all of its 190 territories.

The dark comedy, carved up into 13 half-hour episodes, takes place in a family florists that expands its employee when the owner's mistress dies, leaving several orphaned children at a loose end.

"Manolo is the only filmmaker in Mexico to have been a part of the top ten highest grossing movies over the last three consecutive years," said Netflix VP Erik Barmack. "We are sure he will delight thousands of Netflix members around the world."

Netflix adds this untitled project to a roster of Latin American productions that includes "Narcos," "Club de Cuervos," "Ingobernable," "3%," Edha, and "O Matador."
