Editors' Picks are the Fashionista team's true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.

I like to think it's pretty easy for me to resist the pull of fashion trends. For both budgetary reasons and personal preference, I tend to only buy things I believe I'll still love and wear years later. But once in a blue moon, a style comes along that completely obliterates any trend-immunity I think I've built up — this time, it's the quiet weirdness of the sheer flat.

Given that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were among the first to popularize this concept via The Row's Sheer Sock Flats, maybe I shouldn't be surprised by how quickly I've gotten on board. Thanks to my not being a rich person, I never went for that particular style, but recently, I became fixated on these white mesh ballet flats by Dear Frances. I've always loved a ballet flat, especially one with a high vamp, making these particularly up my alley. I couldn't stop envisioning myself this summer wearing anything and everything with these, the white mesh thinly veiling a cute pedicure on my (fake, for legal reasons) tan feet. So I caved.

In addition to being beautiful, they're among the lightest, airiest, softest things I've ever put on my feet. Not since my last actual ballet class has a shoe felt so close to... nothing.

I also can't think of a shoe more suitable for packing in a suitcase. I will admit I'm slightly terrified of getting these dirty, so I'll have to be somewhat choosy about where and when I wear them, but I'm very excited to wear them nonetheless.
