Meet the new characters of "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2"

Back in 2014, Marvel Studios took a huge risk making a big-budget superhero ensemble movie based on a little-known comic book property known as "Guardians Of The Galaxy".
Fortunately, the gamble paid off handsomely! The movie ended up becoming one of the biggest hits of the year and it also immediately sky-rocketed Chris Pratt's career into Hollywood superstar status.
Three years later, James Gunn and his same ensemble are back with this year's highly-anticipated sequel, "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2". Apart from anticipating the return of the recurring team members including Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), the sequel will be included some new faces as well.
So, here is a list of new characters featured in the soon-to-be-released "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2". Make sure you know a bit about them before you step into this exciting galaxy once again!
1. Ego (Kurt Russell)

Ego just happens to be Star-Lord's father and also the same person who raised Pom Klementieff's Mantis (more on that later). In this sequel, Kurt Russell's Ego character will appear in a human form. Well, at least that's what we saw in the trailers so far. But he's actually more than just a human. Apparently, Ego's full name is Ego the Living Planet. Bizarre as it may sound, here is how the character looks like in the comic book.

2. Mantis (Pom Klementieff)

As if the existing five members of the Guardians Of The Galaxy team are not enough, here comes another new addition in the form of Mantis. Played by Canadian-French actress Pom Klementieff, Mantis is described as a "wide-eyed, childlike and sometimes weird" kind of character who has "never hung out with people before". The sequel will also feature some sort of "oddball" relationship between Mantis and her caretaker, Drax the Destroyer. In the comics, Mantis is apparently an ex-member of the Avengers team. She also possesses various superpowers such as martial arts skill, an empathic power that allows her to communicate with living plants, a superhuman strength and even an emotive telepathy.
3. Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki)

Move over, Ronan the Accuser. In this sequel, the new villain that the Guardians Of The Galaxy team members are going to face is Ayesha. Played by Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki ("The Great Gatsby", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."), Ayesha is a gold-skinned high priestess of the Sovereign, a race of highly-advanced and genetically modified people. In the comics, Ayesha also goes by the names of Kismet, Her and Paragon. Her significant superpower ability includes harnessing cosmic energy for various purposes (e.g. enhancing her physical strength and recovering from major injuries).
4. Taserface (Chris Sullivan)

Chris Sullivan, a veteran TV actor who appeared in "The Knick", "Stranger Things" and "This Is Us", plays Taserface, the leader of the Ravagers. In this sequel, Taserface engages a mutiny against Yondu (Michael Rooker), the blue alien antagonist previously appearing in the first movie. In the comics, Taserface is also known as Overkill and happens to be one of the Guardians of the Galaxy's oldest enemies.
5. Stakar (Sylvester Stallone)

Sylvester Stallone is no stranger to playing a role based on a comic-book property. And that role was none other than the much-maligned "Judge Dredd" back in 1995. Now, in "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2", he will play Stakar a.k.a. Stakar of the House of Ogord or Starhawk in a cameo appearance. Here, Stakar is one of the Ravagers who has a history with Yondu. In the comics, Stakar is a humanoid creature who has the ability to manipulate light, a superhuman strength and a precognition known as "One-Who-Knows".
