Meerqeen on naysayers: Dreams that are out of reach are worth pursuing
19 Sep - Meerqeen recently took to social media to express his thoughts on the matter of his acting goals, after his previous statement about having the desire of one day winning an Oscar was belittled by some.
On 17 September, the actor, who shared several photos that showed how far he has gone since his "Hero Remaja" days - from becoming the first Malaysian ambassador for YSL Beauty to winning accolades left and right, posted, "My teacher and classmates once told me that my dreams were too big, that they were beyond my reach and impossible to achieve. It was disheartening to hear such doubts, especially from those who should have been supportive."
"However, I've come to realise that these opinions are often more about the limitations of others than about my own potential. Dreams that seem out of reach are often the ones worth pursuing, as they push us to grow, overcome challenges, and redefine what's possible," he added.
The "Uncle Bos Mama" actor stated that the journey toward achieving something big is rarely easy and involves hard work, resilience, and the courage to keep going despite setbacks and skepticism.
"I've learned that the size of a dream should never be a reason to give up but rather a motivation to push harder. Every great achievement starts with a belief that it can be done, even when others say otherwise," he continued.
Finally, to his followers who have similar doubts in life, he said, "Your dreams are a reflection of your own potential, not the limits set by others. Embrace the challenge, stay true to your vision, and keep working toward your goals with unwavering determination. The path may be difficult, but it is in facing these challenges that we discover our true strength and capability. I wish everyone the courage to defy the doubts and pursue their dreams with passion and perseverance, no matter how big they may seem."
The post came after an article was published following his "Oscar" statement, where a more senior actor was asked by the media about his own goal and said that he has never pursued any award, be it domestically or internationally.
