Mayanne Mak didn't expect to win at TVB Awards

26 Jan – Almost nobody expected that Mayanne Mak would win Most Improved Female Artiste at the recently held TVB Anniversary Awards, including the actress herself, as she admitted recently.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was honoured in the said category not for her acting work but for her hosting gigs (including Miss Hong Kong 2017) and variety show participations (including "Sammy on the Go" and "Line Walker: The Hunting Game"), admitted that it is very difficult for a host to win the said award.

The Canadian star continued, "I came to Hong Kong seven years ago to find a sense of belongingness. 2017 was the most challenging year, as the company gave me a lot of opportunities to develop my potential. It was a bold decision on their part to let me host Miss Hong Kong 2017."

Mayanne said that while she doesn't have the most beautiful face or the best body, God has given her the talent of making people laugh, which enabled her to win the award.

The TV personality defeated other worthy contenders including Samantha Ko, Roxanne Tong, and Jacqueline Wong.
