You Will Soon Be Able to Fly to Fiji From This U.S. Hub
Fiji Airways confirms it will operate a new route connecting Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and Fiji.

Visiting the tropical island of Fiji will soon be easier and faster for travelers from the Lone Star State.
On Wednesday, Fiji Airways confirmed it is launching direct service from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and Fiji. Travel + Leisure previously reported on the airline's request filed with the government in July to operate the new route.
The new flight will be 13 hours long and launches in December. It will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday on an Airbus A350-900 XWB. The seating will be made up of 301 economy class seats, which the airline noted won Best Economy Class in Australia and Pacific at the most recent SKYTRAX World Airline Awards, and 33 lie-flat business class seats.
“The new Fiji-Dallas service is set to bring more than 1,000 passengers a week into Fiji alone, helping to bolster the nation’s tourism industry. The overnight flight will also offer our customers increased connections to North America from the South Pacific and beyond,” Fiji Airways Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen said.
Fiji Airways recently joined the oneworld alliance, an airline partnership that includes Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Qatar, and others. The airline also announced in June it would soon join the American Airlines AAdvantage program, which allows earning and redeeming miles on both airlines, plus travel benefits for elite members.
“This loyalty partnership marks a significant milestone, bringing together two renowned carriers to offer new benefits to millions of travelers,” Viljoen declared at the time. “We are excited about the positive impact this collaboration will have on both our airlines and our guests who will benefit from the exclusive perks."
The new route will be especially handy for passengers of American Airlines, which has a major hub in Dallas-Fort Worth airport. American does not currently offer any direct flights from Dallas to Fiji, but provides travelers the option of connecting through a variety of Fiji Airways hubs, such as Los Angeles or San Francisco, for a booking.
