‘Max Steel’ Trailer: Mattel’s Action Figure Line Gets Live Action Treatment

About his role in the infamously terrible Jaws 4: The Revenge, Michael Caine once said “I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.” In unrelated news, a new trailer for Max Steel launched earlier today, co-starring the great Andy Garcia in a supporting role for which it looks like he had a lot of fun. The Open Road YA action pic stars Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, a teen just moved to a new town who learns that thanks to his deceased father’s research, he has developed super powers. Meeting up with a floating robot named Steel, they combine to form the film’s title and, presumably, save the world. See the trailer above.

The film is of course based on the popular line of toys from Mattel that has already seen two animated adaptations, one that ran on Kids WB and Cartoon Network from 2000-2002 (and spawned several made for tv sequel films) and a reboot series that’s aired on Disney XD since 2013. Stewart Hendler directs Max Steel from a script by Christopher Yost, with Maria Bello, Ana Villafane, Josh Brener (as the voice of Steel) and Garcia rounding out the cast. The film hits theaters October 14.
