‘Married At First Sight’ Renewed For Season 5 On FYI

FYI’s docuseries that pronounces couples legally wed on their initial meeting is headed back to the altar. The cable net has greenlighted a fifth season of Married at First Sight, set this time in Chicago and premiering next year. The Season 4 finale airs Tuesday night, with a reunion special set for November 1.

The social experiment series follows singles yearning for a lifelong partnership as they agree to a provocative proposal: getting legally married to a stranger the moment they first meet. It is FYI’s top-rated series across all platforms. The network last month announced a spinoff series, Married at First Sight: Second Chances, which will follow Season 3 stars David Norton and Vanessa Nelson as they get another shot at finding love.

In Season 5 of Married at First Sight, singles from the Chicago area will be matched by a panel of relationship experts, who will choose what they believe are three compatible couples. The couples will not meet until they walk down the aisle and see each other face-to-face, for the first time, at the altar. After several weeks together, each couple must make a decision: Do they remain together or decide to divorce?

Married at First Sight is produced by Kinetic Content and executive produced by Chris Coelen, Sam Dean and Gena McCarthy.
