Mark Chao doesn't want to be an idol star

4 Mar - There is a reason why Mark Chao hasn't been in a television drama for eight years, and that is because he doesn't want to be known as an idol.

As reported on Sohu, the actor, who recently made his television comeback with the Chinese drama, "Eternal Love" alongside Yang Mi recently, stated that he didn't want the idol tag, and would prefer to do more serious roles that can challenge his skill as an actor.

Mark also admitted that more and more fans are now welcoming him when they see him outside since he starred in the said drama.

"The last time I received this kind of treatment was when I was doing "Black & White"," said Mark.

"Black & White" was his debut drama, which enabled him to win a Golden Bell Award for Best Actor back in 2009 and earned him the status as an idol actor.

While he admitted that he didn't want to return to being an idol, Mark said that he has never sworn off filming any drama.

"It's just that I hadn't come across a script that really made me want to come back. That is until this one," he said.
