7 May – Thai actor Mario Maurer is elated to be able to star in his first ever Hong Kong film, "77 Heartwarmings".

The actor, who plays the love rival in the sequel to the 2017 film, "77 Heartbreaks", stated that he has always been a fan of Hong Kong movies and has watched Herman Yau films before - which surprises him when he realised that he would be working with the said filmmaker.

"I watched a very horrifying film called "Untold Story" when I decided to take on this project. I didn't know that the director would be the same one. I told Charlene [Choi] that I couldn't imagine that the same director could do two very different kinds of movies," he said.

Mario added that he even told Herman his hope of making a horror movie with him.

"He said fine, next time he makes one, he will invite me," he enthused.

As to his experience of working in the film, the "Pee Mak" star said that he enjoyed his time on set alongside Charlene and lead actor Pakho Chau.

"Charlene is a great actress and Pakho is very easygoing. The first scene we worked together was the boxing scene. Although the action was a bit difficult, we still had a lot of fun. I really felt lucky to get to work with them," he added.

He also stated that he had no communication issues with the cast and crew as they can interact in English. However, Mario admitted that remembering his lines was quite tough.

"Luckily, the director and screenwriter helped me a lot. Interpreting this character was a great challenge indeed," he said.
