Mariah Carey performed for the first time after her recent split, and we think she sounds incredible!

Breaking up is hard to do. Even more when you’re a public figure, and everyone seems to know the intricate details about your love life. Mariah Carey just performed live after her recent split with James Packer, and as expected, all eyes were on her. It’s notable since it was the first time she sang in public since the news broke. (And it was also notable since she sang Christmas songs that we all know and love! It’s never too early for a Mariah Carey Christmas.)

The performance took place in Toronto on Thursday night, and celebrated the official seasonal unveiling of Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue’s holiday window. To share with non-local fans, the event was broadcast through Facebook.

And, while a bit tough to see (live broadcasting, amiright?) here’s a video of the window unveiling.

And, because everyone loves fireworks, here’s a display that pretty much shows the true importance of this annual tradition.

Suddenly it’s really beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Packer and Carey had been engaged since January of this year, so their split definitely blindsided their fans. It’s been reported that Carey was in the midst of planning their wedding when it all went down. So, it’s just a relief that Carey can continue singing, performing, and enhancing her career in the midst of the emotional turmoil.

We really hope she continues to shine brightly. It’s a shame that she’s heartbroken, but we know she’s strong enough to get through it like a champion.
