Maria Chung shares her battle with vasculitis

24 May - Veteran actress Maria Chung recently shared her struggle with vasculitis on the entertainment show, "Hot News".

According to Mingpao, the actress who sat down for an interview shared that she is 80 percent recovered and that while her movements are still slow, she is still in high spirits.

"For now, my hands and feet are still not coordinating well. I still have to use crutches and I still can't do some movements with my fingers, like buttoning up, pulling the zipper and signing my name," she said.

However, Maria assured that she is currently working on her physical therapy.

Recalling the first time she experienced the condition, Maria said that she thought she was having a stroke.

"I couldn't move my right hand and right foot. After that I learned that I had vasculitis. I wasn't able to move my limbs for two weeks and I was worried all the time," she said.

Maria added that her condition was almost similar to that experienced by late entertainer Lo Fun, who was diagnosed with dermatomyositis prior to her death.

"It's an inflammation that can weaken your immunity. I was worried that I would get infected by other diseases that will cause complications, so for almost a year, I kept myself at home," she said.

She added that good friend Lam Kin Ming was her biggest supporter, and that it was due to her encouragement that she learned to face her situation with much optimism.
