Margot Robbie had one interesting honeymoon!
During her guest appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, the I, Tonya star revealed that she and her husband, Tom Ackerley, ran into a few A-listers while vacationing in Tahiti after tying the knot in December 2016.
"I'm scared because my husband's going to kill me for telling this story, but it's my favorite story ever, and it's the story of how Ellen and I met," the 27-year-old actress explained. "We go to Tahiti, and we go to this island ... it's like shack that you stay in, there's no electricity, no mirrors or anything like that. So, we'd been there for four days, and then the last bit of the honeymoon was like a really nice hotel. It was lovely."
"We get there, but it's raining," she continued. "We, by the way, look disgusting, because we haven't seen our reflections in four days. We [asked], 'Oh, what can we do here when it's raining?' And they're like, 'Oh, there's the spa, or there's the gym,' and we were like, 'Oh, I don't really wanna work out but I guess we could do something at the gym.' So, we get changed to go the gym and Tom puts on these shorts, they're the oldest gym shorts and they're tiny... like, really short, and there's nothing underneath."
Robbie says she told Ackerley not to wear the shorts, but he kept them on, thinking there was no way they'd run into anyone they know.
"So, we walk into the gym and running on a treadmill is Ellen," Robbie shared. "And then on the treadmill next to her is Portia [de Rossi], her wife. Tom and I are like, 'Oh my God.' Tom's face has just gone white."
"I was already starstuck and then [Ellen's] like, 'Have you met Obama?'" she continued, telling DeGeneres she thought she was going to "crack a rib" from laughing so hard at what her husband was wearing. "We were like, 'What?' And standing next to them is former president Barack Obama. I'm not kidding."
Robbie recently got to know another high-profile celebrity, former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding, who she portrays onscreen. The two even posed together on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the film last month.
The blonde beauty spoke with ET about what is was like to channel Harding, admitting it was was "scary."
"It's scary playing a real life person especially when that person is still very much alive," she confessed. "Everyone has a recollection of what they think happened, and it's kind of fun and interesting to show a different side of that story and maybe a side to Tonya that people weren't expecting to see."
Luckily, Robbie got the stamp of approval from Harding. Hear what the athlete had to say about seeing Robbie play her in the big-screen biopic below!
