From Country Living

So much planning and, honestly, anxiety goes into preparing a full Thanksgiving menu. And there's nothing worse than not having enough food to feed all of your hungry family and guests. To make sure you have enough of the main event, aka the turkey, we have put together an easy-to-read chart outlining how much turkey to buy per person.

Whether you're an experienced host or if you're cooking the big meal for the first time this year, you might be confused when it comes to the size of the bird. Once you've finished compiling your Thanksgiving grocery shopping list, it's time to hit the store and decide on what you need. Turkeys can range in size from 6 to 24 pounds, so it's important to buy the right one, otherwise you'll be wasting time, money, and, well, turkey! When you're ready to get cooking, we can help you figure out how long to thaw a frozen turkey and how long to cook it, and finally how to carve it.

A few notes: Depending on the amount of Thanksgiving leftovers you will want, cook a bird that is on the higher or lower end of the weight range. So if you have 6 people and are cooking an 8-pound bird, expect turkey sandwiches for days. If you want to skip the fridge shuffle, cook a 6-pound bird.
