Mamat Khalid presents "18 Puasa di Kampong Pisang"
14 Apr – After the success of his "Kampong Pisang" series, and his previous Ramadan entries, "16 Puasa" and "17 Puasa" earning a huge viewership, filmmaker Mamat Khalid is now merging the two franchises into "18 Puasa di Kampong Pisang".
The director, who will be launching the said drama on 15 April on Astro First, stated that the upcoming film will still revolve around the topic of fasting, but that it would have a different approach than the previous two films.
"Of course, the entertainment value will still be there, but it would depend on the audiences. What I can say is that the storyline is easy enough for everybody to understand as it happens all around us, maybe to us as well," he said.
Mamat added that he hopes that the new movie will enable everybody to reflect on themselves and their mistakes, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The upcoming movie will relay various messages about the blessings of Ramadan, the function of Baitulmal, the Pillars of Islam, the giving of alms and zakat, and many more. It will star Bell Ngasri, Aziz M Osman, Kazar Saisi, Mat London, and Afea Deana among others and feature guest appearances that include Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias and Rani Kulop.
The original "16 Puasa" was a simple story revolving around six married men who would meet at hidden locations to sneak food and eat during Ramadan instead of fasting like everybody else. Hilarity ensues as they try to acquire their meals and keeping their secret hidden away from their wives and the public.
