"Mad World" stars elated to be Hong Kong's entry for the Oscars


25 Sep - Director Wong Chun and stars of the award-winning movie, "Mad World" recently expressed their happiness at the movie being picked as Hong Kong's entry to compete for the Academy Awards' Best Foreign Language category.

As reported on Sohu, director Wong who spoke to the media following the news, admitted that he is delightfully surprised by the pick, and thanked the audience and the production team. He also added that he will continue to learn and reflect, and to present better works in the future.

Actor Eric Tsang, who won Best Actor for his role in the movie at the 1st Malaysia Golden Global Awards and Best Supporting Actor at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards, thanked Wong and the director's screenwriter girlfriend, Florence Chan for writing such a good movie. He also thanked his co-star Shawn Yue for a great collaboration.

On the other hand, Shawn recently shared the announcement on Instagram, and captioned it, "No way..."

As for Elaine Jin, who won multiple Best Supporting Actress awards for her role in the movie, the actress stated that she is touched by the recognition.

"I have never thought [we could be selected]. The film is the product of our collective effort," she said.
