Ma Yili to star in Wong Kar Wai's "Blossom"
6 Aug – It was revealed that Ma Yili has been cast in the upcoming Wong Kar Wai movie, "Blossoms".
As reported on On CC, the Chinese actress will play the love interest of the lead character A Bao, to be played by mainland heartthrob, Hu Ge.
The said film, which will be Wong's first directorial effort in eight years, will be based on the novel of the same name by Jin Yucheng. The story, set in Shanghai, will have two parts that will be set in the 1960s to 1970s, and 1980s to 1990s.
On the other hand, some fans of the book have already expressed reservation regarding Ma's involvement in the project, seeing that the mother of two is already 44 and would not be suitable to play an unmarried young woman.
It is also noted that Ma is older than Hu Ge by seven years.
