Every year, bedding and mattress reviews are our readers' top-clicked and top-shopped stories over the February holiday weekend. It's not all that surprising, considering many of our editors' favorite bedding brands reliably offer sales at this time of year. After all, it's about that time when many of us are starting to feel the walls close in after waiting out the winter indoors.
Technically, the price cuts are steeper around Black Friday, but that’s not exactly when you’re sprucing up your bedroom. (I know I'm not the only one too consumed by holiday merriment to take on new projects voluntarily.) The good news is you aren’t missing out on too much when you crunch the numbers. Breeze Comforter
Assistant Editor Meghan Shouse, the self proclaimed "hottest sleeper in the world," tested both of Buffy's cooling comforters and determined the Breeze the winner for those who run hot. It's thin, but naturally weighted by a eucalyptus fiber fill. She said the gentle pressure made her fall asleep much faster than normal but didn't cause her to overheat. Read her full review here.

Introducing my personal favorite sheet set: The Citizenry Stonewashed Linen. I know linen sheets aren't for everyone, but this set made me a believer. The weave is very lightweight, which keeps them breezy and airy instead of scratchy (a common complaint with linen). They're made in a family-run textile mill in Portugal and you can feel the quality. And while just about every bedding brand out there claims their products "get softer with every wash," these have, by far, aged better than any other set I own.

Cloud Brushed Organic Flannel Sheet Set
Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao loves Coyuchi's flannel sheets. She runs cold, and says they've helped her survive this frigid New York City winter. She even called them "the coziest sheets" she owns. Read her full review here.

That way, you don't have to pay for something you don't want. This brushed cotton fitted sheet is a nice middle ground for transitional weather, as it sleeps warmer than percale but cooler than sateen. It's $22 off.

Beach Club Stripe Percale Duvet Cover
It's all in the name with this duvet set. Quintessentially Serena & Lily, the thick vertical stripe will transport you to your favorite coastal resort every time you step foot in your bedroom. Add the complementary scallop trim, and it's game over for last year's summer bedspread.

Sateen Core Sheet Set
Just about every editor on our team has tried something from Brooklinen. (It is one of the most popular bedding brands online, after all.) Senior Commerce Manager Mackenzie Dunn put the brand's core material—luxe sateen—to the test. She loved the substantial weight and said they live up to their reputation. "I like how durable they are—I have had these for a few years, and they've held up well through lots of washes!"

Bamboo Sheet Set
Cherner also tested Cozy Earth's popular bamboo viscose sheets and confirmed that they feel satiny smooth like silk (she "audibly gasped" when opening the package), without the tedious upkeep. While the thin material took some getting used to since she typically prefers crisp hotel-style sheets, she noted upsides like breathability and softness. Read her full review here. Editorial Director Joanna Saltz owns an Annie Selke comforter that she bought during the pandemic, and reports that it remains in rotation years later. That earned the brand the title of House Beautiful's best luxury bedding, and while it's not having a major sitewide Presidents' Day sale like others on this list, there are a bunch of styles marked down in the sale section of the website. We're gravitating towards this matelassé coverlet that adds sumptuous texture without being too heavy for hot sleepers.
CleanBamboo Hemp Linen+ Duvet Cover
If you like bamboo bedding, ettitude is one of the more luxurious options on the market. The brand's exclusive CleanBamboo fabric is known for its softness and natural cooling properties, which Liao can attest to. "I have a duvet cover from them and love it so much, I use it year-round. The material is really soft and breathable. Whether my heat is cranked up or turned down, the cover never makes me feel overly hot or cold," Liao says.
