This Luxe LeBron James Sneaker Is One of the Most Limited Nikes to Release so Far This Year

Sabrina Ionescu isn’t the only Nike basketball star who will soon receive a limited-edition “Black Label” sneaker. Also included in the All-Star Weekend collection is LeBron James’ latest signature model, the LeBron 22, which has been decked out in a similar premium material makeover — but James has arguably the most exotic of the entire bunch.

Seen here in official Nike product images is the upcoming LeBron 22 “Black Label.” Like the aforementioned Nike Sabrina 2 and the rest of the pairs in the “Black Label” group, James’ sneaker is a limited-edition with the number of pairs produced corresponding to his birth year, 1984.

This distinction is called out with a silver badge on the lateral side of the right shoe reading “1 of 1984.” And while the mostly black colorway matches the rest of the sneakers in the “Black Label” range, Nike Basketball went all-out with the materials on the LeBron 22.

Nearly the entire upper of the Nike LeBron 22 “Black Label” is covered in a scaly, croc-textured leather, but the luxe materials don’t stop there. The sneaker’s oversized Swoosh logo, which extends from the lateral side to the medial, is covered in a shiny faux pony hair.

Meanwhile, the braided Swoosh border — which is also used to depict James’ signature on the heel — has been given a two-tone reflective treatment. A secondary Swoosh logo on the lateral side is colored with an iridescent finish, while the stitched toe Swoosh appears in a Coconut Milk shade. Lastly, the right and left tongues feature metallic gold logos of James’ crown logo and a cursive “B” Black Label script, respectively.

In addition to this LeBron 22 and the Sabrina 2, Nike Basketball’s “Black Label” collection will include two Swarovski-encrusted versions of Ja Morant’s Ja 2, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Giannis Freak 6, Kevin Durant’s KD 17, Devin Booker’s Book 1 and the Zoom GT Hustle 3 worn by Victor Wembanyama.

An exact release date has not been confirmed, but the LeBron 22 “Black Label” is expected to launch during NBA All-Star Weekend for a retail price of $210. Given its limited production run, it’s likely the pair will only be available from a handful of stores.
