Lucy Hale Faces Backlash for "Baby Hair" Comment
On Monday, Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale uploaded a photo from a recent shoot on Twitter and her 6 million followers went crazy. This time, they weren't going ham about about how gorgeous she looks - it was over her caption.
"The time my baby hairs came to good use at a shoot," is what Lucy captioned her image, which shows her hair parted down the middle with her bangs slicked down on each side of her forehead.

Baby hairs are fine, feathery hairs that rest right on the hairline, and styling them has been practiced in the African-American and Latina communities for decades. Many women of color with natural hair and coarser coils use a styling gel pomade to slick down their unruly baby hairs since that hair is usually a softer texture and shorter than the rest.
Some women simply slick them down, while others choose to wear baby hairs by elaborately styling them with a small bristle brush or a toothbrush.
Many of Lucy's followers were quick to call her out for cultural appropriation. They also corrected her for dubbing her slicked down bangs "baby hair" because there's a big difference between the two. According to Bustle, Hale wasted no time deleting her photo an hour later.
