It looks like 2025 is starting on a high note for Kendrick Lamar. On February 2, the “Not Like Us” rapper took home five Grammy trophies for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. And on February 9, he’ll perform for an audience of over 120 million at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Add these accolades to his already impressive resume (Lamar is also a Pulitzer Prize winner, has 37 BET Awards, an Emmy, now 22 Grammys, and 11 MTV Music Video Awards) it’s clear that the 37-year-old is coming for Hollywood. But where does Kendrick Lamar live when he’s not making hip-hop history?
Lamar is a Compton, California native, and, judging by his real estate profile, likes to stay relatively close to home. Most of his properties are in California, with one exception in New York City. Ahead, we break down the rapper’s home history.
A House in Eastvale, California
Per TMZ, Lamar originally bought his Eastvale property for $523,400 back in 2014 as a gift to his parents and siblings. The property spanned 3,500 square feet, complete with four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a three-car garage, a swimming pool, a BBQ station, and a spa. He put it on the market in 2021 and listed the home for $800,000—which is pretty “humble” (see what I did there?) for celebrity real estate.
A Mansion in Calabasas, California
In 2018, Lamar purchased a 5,400-square-foot, six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion in the star-studded city of Calabasas, California for $2.65 million. The investment home is heavy on wooden interiors, clad with wooden cabinets, trimmings, and tables. Interior features of note are the home’s spacious kitchen, home gym, multiple fireplaces, walk-in closets the size of small bedrooms, a large dining area, a regal staircase, and home theater. But the property’s true claim to fame is its outdoor entertainment space, complete with an inground pool, jacuzzi, and marble bar and grilling station.
An Estate in Manhattan Beach, California
Per The Root, Lamar purchased a Manhattan Beach mansion in 2019 for $9.7 million. The home wasn’t listed and was sold to the rapper in a private deal. It isn’t much smaller than his crib in Calabasas at 5,350 square feet. Unlike the aforementioned Calabasas property, the Manhattan Beach estate only boasts four bedrooms, but a whopping seven bathrooms.
A Residence in Bel Air, California
Calabasas isn’t the only celebrity-packed city Lamar resides in. In 2022, the rapper invested in a ranch-style Bel Air home that was originally built in the 1950s for $15.9 million. It was designed by Edward Fickett, an esteemed architect, and despite its contemporary enhancements, the home still has remnants of Fickett’s style, including a cream and black accented exterior and large windows. It’s comprised of a main house and a two-story guest house, spanning 8,000 square feet of living space. We love its tall ceilings, skylights, and cozy home theater.
A Penthouse in Brooklyn, New York
Though loyal to L.A., Lamar bought prime real estate in the Big Apple in December of 2023: A luxury penthouse at the Pierhouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park, with a view of the Brooklyn Heights waterfront. According to The New York Times, the 3,140-square-foot duplex cost the rapper $8.6 million, making it the cheapest property in his real estate lineup. Stylistic features worth highlighting include the four-bedroom-three-and-a-half-bathroom home’s 18-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling window walls, 2,000 square feet of outdoor space (a serious flex for NYC residents), and a private rooftop.
A Farmhouse in Brentwood, Los Angeles
As of 2024, Lamar is officially neighbors with Gwyneth Paltrow. The off-market deal for his Brentwood home set Lamar back over $40 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. That’s a whopping $20.5 million more than its previous owners (Viet Dinh, the former chief legal and policy officer at Fox Corp.) paid in 2019, per The Robb Report. The home was designed by Philip Vertoch and boasts wood and stone trimming. It’s the most luxurious property to Lamar’s name, spanning 16,200 square feet, complete with nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Interior design highlights include the tri-level home’s high wood-beam ceilings, hardwood floors, reclaimed wood, and marble accents, plus a wine cellar, home gym, movie theater, and spa.
