Thanks to their smash television show, the Property Brothers are one of the most well-known (and well-trusted) names in home renovation. Viewers have seen their skills, their taste level, and their attention to detail regularly on HGTV, and so it's only natural that folks would want to hire Drew and Jonathan Scott for their own projects. Unfortunately, a scammer is capitalizing on that desire and the Scotts' good name.

In a Facebook post today, the brothers alerted their 973,573 followers that there's a scam circulating wherein someone who is decidedly not from their company tries to offer their services. From the sound of the post, it seems like the con artist may be arranging jobs and then requesting payment over the internet.

They attached a document from the scam, which has awkward and stilted language in some places. "Our company has been an established construction firm, creating homes in different locations," it says. Then it directs potential customers to a Yahoo email address, a clear sign that something's not right. Wouldn't the very famous Property Brothers at least have their own domain name in their email address?

While the scam may seem obvious to some, we all know someone who might fall for such a document (hi, Grandma!). It does have an HGTV logo on the bottom, after all. So take the Scotts' warning under advisement, and make sure your more gullible friends and family are aware, too.
