Lolita Rodriguez passes away

The Drama Queen of Philippine Cinema died earlier this week at 81

1 Dec - Veteran star Lolita Rodriguez has recently passed away.

As reported on Inquirer, the actress, who starred in films such as "Ina", "Anak", and "Ang Anak ni Brocka", was revealed to have breathed her last on 28 November in California.

The news was revealed by a relative of Rodriguez, Eduardo Perez Blanco, who posted, "Sad day. My grandaunt, iconic actress Miss Lolita Rodriguez, one of the greatest Philippine movie artists of all time, passed away last night. Let us pray for her."

Born Dolores Marquez Clark, Lolita Rodriguez started her career in 1953 through "Ang Ating Pag-Ibig", co-starring Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran.

She also won various accolades throughout her lifetime, including FAMAS Award for Best Actress (for her role in "Gilda"), and Metro Manila Film Festival's Best Actress for "Ina ka Ng Anak Mo".

She had been living in the United States since her retirement.

She was 81.
