Liu Ye brings family back to France for New Year
23 Feb – While most people would return home to China from abroad to celebrate the Lunar New Year with their family, actor Liu Ye decided to do the opposite and spend the Chinese festivity with his French in-laws instead.
As reported on Epoch Times, the actor, who is married to French photographer Anais Martane, recently shared online, "This year, I accompanied my wife home to her parents in France and celebrate the New Year there."
Despite celebrating the festivity in a predominantly white country, photos shared by Liu showed that the family still did all the things one normally does during the Lunar New Year. There were photos of Anais making dumplings, giving out red packets, putting up red lanterns and Chinese couplets, and their two children Nina and Nuoyi kowtowing to their grandparents.
Some users expressed curiosity over the contents of the red packet, saying, "Would it be RMB or Euro?"
Liu Ye met the Beijing-based photographer Anais at a social function back in 2006, and tied the knot in a private ceremony three years later.
"Anais is the best present I have ever received. I thank her for giving me confidence and courage. I will love her forever," he said at his wedding.
