In the past, McClure has raised awareness by presenting the BBC One special Our Dementia Choir, a two-part documentary about the healing power of music for those with the disease.

"I'm really looking forward to working on the new series of Crimewatch Live," Ackerley has said of the new series.

"Each year we work closely with police forces, helping to crack down on crime by broadcasting appeals from across the UK.

"Having the opportunity to go behind the scenes with some of the UK's most respected emergency service teams is a real privilege. Once again, we need the viewers' help in order to solve important cases."

Vicky recently presented the powerful ITV documentary Vicky McClure: My Grandad's War, where she chronicled her grandfather's heroic history serving in the Royal Navy.

She also starred in the second season of Trigger Point, which wrapped up on Sunday night on ITV1 with her character Lana Washington rushing to stop a terrorist plot.

Crimewatch Live will air Vicky's guest appearance this Tuesday (March 5) on BBC One at 10:45am.
