Lin Chi-ling slams tabloid for privacy breach

21 Aug – Lin Chi-ling's camp has slammed a certain tabloid publisher for violating the actress' privacy.

Mingpao reported that the issue sparked after a weekly magazine revealed that they have been tracking Lin's driver, who was spotted submitting personal information to a hospital. While it was not clear what the hospital visit was about, the tabloid speculated that Lin was possibly applying to undergo in-vitro fertilisation in an effort to have a baby with husband, Akira.

Lin's studio had since responded to the issue via social media with a statement that read, "Ms. Lin Chi-ling and this studio hereby issue a solemn statement, strongly condemning this illegal act that violates the privacy rights of individuals."

"As a public figure, Ms. Lin has been under the pressure of unwarranted public opinion and speculation from time to time. However, [our] silence and tolerance does not equate the infinite acquiescence of rude infringement. We absolutely disagree with the media's ambiguous understanding of what is right and what is wrong," it said.

The studio also added that it has the right to take legal action against those who are involved.
