Limited-offer ‘Mystery Meat Rice Bowl’ launched at Cup Noodles Museum

Japanese food company Nissin, widely known for its ubiquitous cup noodles, recently launched a new “Mystery Meat Rice Bowl” at the Yokohama Cup Noodles Museum. Laden with so much “mystery meat” that the rice underneath cannot even be seen, many online have expressed a desire to try it.

This mysterious bowl of delicious-looking goodness started with Facebook and Twitter posts from Nissin. In what appeared as a teaser post, Nissin wrote, “Mystery Meat Rice Bowl! On sale… undecided!”

The “mystery meat” is actually cubes of processed pork and vegetables cooked in the cup noodle’s flavourful broth – the same as the pieces of meat you see floating in the cup noodles. It is a simple meal with “mystery meat” over rice, yet is surprisingly tasty. Even a Nissin staff who tried it was shocked at how good the new item is.

One serving of this rice bowl uses about 35 times the amount of meat found in a regular cup noodle, which is probably a dream come true for carnivores. Priced at 300 yen (around S$3.70) per bowl, only a limited 29 servings are offered each day, available until 31 August 2017.

And even though entry to the museum requires paying a fee of 500 yen, who would say ‘no’ to such a delectable donburi (rice bowl)?
