Lili Reinhart Knew “Full Well” She Was Bisexual From a “Young Age”

In June, Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart came out publicly as bisexual and urged her West Hollywood neighbors to walk with her in the LGBTQ+ For #BlackLivesMatter protest on June 3rd. Though some fans were surprised by her post, Reinhart said she knew she was attracted to both men and women very early on in her life.
Talking to Flaunt Magazine on August 5th, Reinhart opened up about her decision to come out as bisexual on Instagram and why she hadn't before then. (Not that she is under any obligation to!)
“I knew full well that I was attracted to women from a young age,” Reinhart said.
But it was her launch into sudden stardom that put her coming out on hold.
“I felt that since I’ve exclusively been in hetero-normative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to get attention,” Reinhart continued, referring to her on-again-off-again relationship with Riverdale costar Cole Sprouse. “That’s not something I wanted to deal with. But to my close friends, and those in my life, my bisexuality has been no secret.”

In her June 3rd post, she wrote on Instagram Stories, “Although I've never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman.”
Despite her fears, Reinhart’s decision to come out has generally been met with praise and positivity. Having made the announcement while shifting attention to a greater good clearly showed her fans and followers that she isn’t “faking it” and only wants to be a proud and open member of the LGBTQ+ community.

As for fighting the good fight—the fight for equality for all races and sexual orientations—Reinhart said it was "incredible" to take part in the protest.
“It was incredible to be surrounded by so many people who are actively fighting against the injustices that are happening right now," she said. "Enough is enough, and hopefully we’ll see real change from the actions that are now being taken.”
