Mo'Nique shares weight loss motivation with throwback photo: 'She continues to motivate me'

Years into her weight loss journey, actress Mo'Nique is still celebrating how far she's come since her time as Nikki on the television show The Parkers.

The 53-year-old comedian took to her Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of her younger self, giving credit to her for inspiring her continued work.

"SHE CONTINUES TO MOTIVATE ME!" she captioned the photo. "When I look back at pictures of myself and remember where I was mentally/physically/spiritually and didn’t GIVE UP."

And although she's had a physical transformation, fans and followers assured Mo'Nique that her beauty remains the same.

"You've been beautiful (inside & out) at EVERY stage of your life, Mo," one person wrote.

"Shoooot you were fine then! That’s the MoNique we all loved from the beginning," commented another, "but I’m happy for your new “YOU” & the goals you set & reached!"

Many others also praised the actress for being a role model to plus-size women at the time, and for always dressing with style.

"Baby auntie was always a badddddd one! Never let the weight fool you! Seriously! Monique dressed down NO MATTER WHAT!" one person wrote. Another said, "The flyest big girl on television."

It was back in 2018 when Mo'Nique shared a video with followers explaining that she had hit a big milestone in her weight loss journey. "Since I've been 17 years old, I've been over 200 pounds," she said. "Today was the first time in my adult life that I've been under 200 pounds."

Ever since, she's continued to post about her journey through fitness and health for her social media followers, encouraging people not to give up on themselves. She's also celebrated her journey with aging as she's entered her fifties.

"GIVE ME ALL MY 50's," she wrote on Instagram in November. "I still have work to do and I WELCOME THE CHALLENGE."
