Li Yundi makes music comeback after prostitution case
1 Nov – Chinese pianist Li Yundi is making a comeback, two years after he was shunned over allegations of soliciting prostitutes.
On 28 October, the world-renowned pianist finally returned, performing in Australia as part of his tour, "Yundi Plays Mozart Sonatas Project 1", beginning with Adelaide.
Li seemed emotional during the performance, at one point seemingly tearing up as he thanked the audience for their support.
Following the Adelaide show, the pianist will be performing in Brisbane, Melbourne, and lastly Sydney.
It was back in October 2021 that Li was detained by the police after reportedly confessing to the illegal activity with a 29-year-old sex worker.
He had since been shunned by the music world and the public alike, with his Chinese Musicians' Association membership revoked due to his "extremely negative social impact".
