Li Yifeng loses two awards following prostitution scandal
14 Sep - Following news that several brands have terminated their partnership with Li Yifeng, it was reported that the actor has now lost two of his acting accolades.
As reported on Mingpao, the Chinese actor, who was revealed to have been detained by the police due to soliciting prostitutes, has now lost the titles of Best Actor in China's Top 100 TV Dramas and The National Audience's Favourite Movie Star.
Both honours were bestowed to the actor back in 2017 at the 22nd Huading Awards.
The announcement was made by the organisers themselves on 11 September, following news of his arrest.
Prior to the announcement, Li has already lost more than ten brands that he endorsed, including Prada, Sensodyne, Remy Martin and Chinese beverage brand, Zhenguoli.
On 11 September, the Beijing police announced that they have detained a man surnamed Li, which the media later confirmed to be the actor. It is noted that prior to the announcement, Li's studio issued a statement saying that it was just a rumour, though the statement was later deleted.
