This New Lexus LX 600 SUV Changes Colors and Has a Mini Kitchen in Back
Lexus wasn’t about to let parent company Toyota hog all the SEMA fun.
The luxury marque brought three kitted-out off-roaders along with it to the annual aftermarket accessory trade show. Each has its virtues, but we’re most taken by an LX 600 designed for paddleboarders and surfers that comes with its own kitchen.
The cumbersomely named LX 600 Premium AAP Build is based on the 2022 edition of Lexus’s Land Cruiser equivalent (which was the only version available in the U.S. for a couple of years). The SEMA concept is finished in Aquamarine and features Lexus’s factory blacked-out trim package. The head-turning color isn’t paint, it’s a matte wrap that changes from blue to green depending on the angle and light. It also rides on a set of matte-gray 18-inch wheels that wear 33-inch Toyo all-terrain tires.

The build, which is powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 in the standard LX 600, was designed for quick weekend trips to the lake, according to the automaker. It comes equipped with a quick-deploying Kammock Crosswing awning, a Prinsu roof rack, and a Yakima SupDawg paddleboard and surfboard mount. The highlight feature, though, is Yakima’s EXO OpenRange Deluxe kitchen bundle that includes everything you need—like a two-burner stove, cutting board, wash basin, lantern, and storage— to make a hearty meal for you and your fellow adventurers.
The LX 600 may be the star of Lexus’s SEMA lineup, but the other off-roaders are nothing to sneer at. Another 2022 model, the bright yellow LX 460, comes with a 10-foot Kammock Roo double hammock and hammock stand, as well as an ARB Weekender Recovery kit and 12-volt portable air compressor. If you’re looking for something a little more new, there’s also a 2024 GX 550 Overtrail+—which is the marque’s latest version of the Land Cruiser—that features a special Earth and Black paint job, and comes with rock rails, tons of extra storage compartments and an on-board tire compressor.
Like most SEMA concepts, there are currently no plans to bring any of the trio of builds to market. Fortunately, with some Googling, along with a little time and patience, it shouldn’t be too hard to recreate any of the off-roaders—with the exception of the Aquamarine wrap.
