Leung Chung Hang doesn't think he'll win Best Actor

15 Jul – Although he is nominated Best Actor at the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards, newcomer Leung Chung Hang doesn't think he has a big chance to win it.

In an interview with Mingpao, the "Zero to Hero" star, who portrays Paralympic gold medalist So Wa Wai in the movie, stated that being nominated is reward enough for him, as the other contenders are quite strong.

It is noted that Leung is competing with the likes of Gordon Lam ("Hand Rolled Cigarette" and "Limbo"), Patrick Tse ("Time"), and Francis Ng ("Drifting").

"I had the opportunity to work with Gordon before, and I think my acting is far inferior compared to him. He has a very strong understanding of the script and the camera work, which makes his performance more subtle," he said.

Leung also said that he enjoyed watching Francis Ng in "Drifting" and Gordon in "Limbo", and would think that the two will be the biggest contenders.

As for Best New Performer, the other category he is nominated in, Leung said that he doesn't think too much about the odds, and would choose Will Or ("Drifting") for the best among them.

Other nominees are Louise Wong ("Anita"), Chung Suet Ying ("Time") and his "Zero to Hero" co-star Fung Ho Yeung.

The 40th Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony will be held on 17 July.
